When you click on a link in my directories, the web site you are requesting will be opened in a separate window or tab. This worked great until version six. Unfortunately, many web sites will open windows with advertisements and junk that you don't want. So Internet Explorer is asking you if you really requested that information or web site -- or is this web site just trying to force feed it to you? This web site does NOT open up pop-ups with ads or porn, here. I open up the web sites you request in a separate window or tab as a convenience.

For best results, I recommend clicking on the
"Pop-up blocked. To see this pop-up or additional options click here..."
and then select the "Always Allow Pop-ups from this site..."

If you do this I will be able to open the web pages as you request them.

If a link is no longer clickable, it is probably a temporary link that has expired or whose content has changed. Red Links have been found to be unavailable. The web site might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. To be a featured web site, you must be a most 10 requested web site of your category -- or, be cross-linked to this web site. Both incoming and outgoing traffic is measured on all web sites. Web sites are listed in the following order, 1. web sites added within the last 7 days in alphabetical order, 2. The top-ten (featured or popular) web sites in alphabetical order, and 3. remaining web site in alphabetical order.

Everyone loves a parade -- even when the parade features cement mixers. About 15 cement mixer trucks took a turn around Burlington Friday afternoon. S.D. Ireland Concrete Construction owns the trucks. The parade marks the tenth year the company has held the event. Since the company's name is Ireland, they said it makes sense to have a parade around St. Patrick's Day. The parade started on Grove Street in Winooski, wound onto Interstate 89, and eventually headed down Church Street in Burlington before going out to Taft Corners.

Lund Family Center made its annual Festival of Fatherhood awards. "Their awards recognize that being a father doesn't just or even mean bringing home the bread," said Julia Lynam of the Lund Family Center. "Effective fathers play unique roles in the lives of their children, nurturing, supporting and protecting them in a very special way." Tony Pomerleau is well known in the region as a shrewd businessman who founded Pomerleau Real Estate in 1951. He's also known as a long time member of the Burlington Police Commission and the mover and shaker behind the creation and construction of the new Burlington Police Station. What isn't known so well is that Pomerleau's enthusiasm for both business and community service has been matched by his dedication to helping his wife raise their 10 children. "While I was developing my business I always made time for my children. We always had dinner together," said Pomerleau, 84.

No one goes hungry at the firehouse on Christmas Day. The kitchen counter and table at Burlington's Station 2 were lined with shrimp, ham, sausage, cheese, spinach dip, cake and bread by lunchtime Tuesday. The five-person crew each contributed a dish or two and the spread kept growing as family members stopped by occasionally to drop off just one more desperately needed batch of seven-layer bars or peanut butter balls. ... Eighteen firefighters staff the stations in Burlington on Christmas. Each is allowed a two-hour break to be with family. Some live too far away to make the visit work, so they spend the full 24 hours at the station. Families are invited to stop by to share a meal or just spend time together. The crews work 24 hours and then have the next 48 hours off, year-round. The holidays fell in such a way this year that the same crew working Christmas also worked Thanksgiving and will be on New Year' Day, too. Their families learn to adapt, the men said.

Students, faculty and staff at St. Michael's College are helping more than 70 local families enjoy a merry Christmas. The school is taking part in the "Adopt-a-Family" program through the Baird Family Center. Groups like sports teams, housemates, and administrative departments spent the last couple of weeks shopping for items on families specific wish lists... buying things like toys for children and essentials like food and clothing. "We actually just sent out an e-mail telling the whole school, faculty, staff, students that we were interested in starting it and we just wanted to see the interest that people had," says St. Michael's Student Abbie Bartlett. "So a lot of people wrote back to us and said that they were interested, and we actually got about 70 families that we were able to help out." Nearly half of the 2,000 students, faculty and staff at St. Michael's contributed to the Adopt-a-Family effort this year.

Today, Burlington's Church Street Marketplace will be transformed into a magical Christmas wonderland. ... Santa will be joined by live reindeer in the Marketplace's holiday parade, and, in the evening, the annual street-lighting festival will kick off the season. The parade starts at noon today at City Hall. ... Santa will be making his rounds, including a stop today at University Mall in South Burlington. ... Church Street, Burlington's centerpiece, is a perfect place to catch the holiday spirit. At 6 p.m. today, the Marketplace will light a magnificent 50-foot blue spruce at the top of Church Street along with more than 300,000 white lights that will brighten the pedestrian mall throughout the dark winter season. Each year, the Marketplace's holiday celebration includes a fund-raising effort to benefit a cause in the community. This year, it is the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Vermont, which helps terminally ill children attain their wishes, whether it be owning a puppy, visiting Walt Disney World or meeting their heroes.
