When you click on a link in my directories, the web site you are requesting will be opened in a separate window or tab. This worked great until version six. Unfortunately, many web sites will open windows with advertisements and junk that you don't want. So Internet Explorer is asking you if you really requested that information or web site -- or is this web site just trying to force feed it to you? This web site does NOT open up pop-ups with ads or porn, here. I open up the web sites you request in a separate window or tab as a convenience.

For best results, I recommend clicking on the
"Pop-up blocked. To see this pop-up or additional options click here..."
and then select the "Always Allow Pop-ups from this site..."

If you do this I will be able to open the web pages as you request them.

If a link is no longer clickable, it is probably a temporary link that has expired or whose content has changed. Red Links have been found to be unavailable. The web site might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. To be a featured web site, you must be a most 10 requested web site of your category -- or, be cross-linked to this web site. Both incoming and outgoing traffic is measured on all web sites. Homosexuality

What does "Alternate LIfestyles" mean?

Not everyone in Burlington is a church going heterosexual that grows up, gets a job earning an honest and legal income, gets married to someone of the opposite gender, and has children by way of their sexual activity with that person. An "Alternate lifestyle" can be anything that deviates from what most of us would consider to the normal (and traditional) lifestyle that is recommended by the Lord. In fact, Burlington seems to attract many people that choose to live other life styles. I realized that there were many things I had not been sure how to categorize that would easily fit in this category.

Disclaimer: I am NOT condoning or condemning these lifestyles, by listing them on my web page. In fact, as a bible-believing Christian, the web master does not agree with any of the life styles mentioned below. But, the directory was originally designed to be a secular listing of local web sites and stories, without moral consideration or prejudice. The fact that these sites are listed is only to show the fact that the following does exist in Burlington, not to condone or condemn it. I do, however, feel a need to make it known that I DO NOT sanction any of these activities.

A priest who had a long-running sexual relationship with a young has resigned his post and asked to be allowed to retire from the ministry. In a letter to his parishioners at St. Peter's Church, the Rev. Donal Ward said that he was one of the priests referred to earlier this week by Attorney General William Sorrell, who cleared two priests of any illegal conduct. Ward, who was suspended from his ministerial duties in May, said in his letter that he never engaged in pedophilia, but he did say he had been involved in a consensual sexual relationship with a young man. In the letter Ward, 71, said he had asked Bishop Kenneth Angell, the bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Burlington, to allow him to retire.

Love, commitment and legal issues motivated more than 90 percent of 300 couples to unite in civil unions during the first year this landmark legislation was available in Vermont, according to a survey conducted at the University of Vermont. Civil union couples tend to be more traditional than their gay and lesbian friends who are not in civil unions, being more likely to share bank accounts, own a home together, send and receive holiday cards in both partners’ names and bring their partner along when visiting parents. Researchers and psychology professors Sondra Solomon and Esther Rothblum have announced results of the first demographic survey comparing lesbians and gay men who were joined in civil unions to married heterosexual siblings and lesbian and gay couples in their social circles. They contacted the 2,300 couples who had civil unions between June 1, 2000 and June 30, 2001, the year that Vermont became the first (and still the only) state to offer legal unions for gay and lesbian couples. one of UVM's undergrad dorms will open a floor exclusively to gay and lesbian students, as well as others. The whole idea came about when a gay male student asked to live with a straight female friend. That's when student government representatives decided the rules need to change. ... Students can apply now to Residential Life to live on this new floor, and starting next fall, one of the under-classmen residence halls will be a home to this new support community. Basically, any student that's interested has to sign a contract identifying with one of seven groups: lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, intersex and allies. The floor is not designed to accommodate heterosexual couples. Hughes says, "The goal is not for females and males to live together as a couple.

UVM has Updated their Same-sex Partner Benefits Policy. In light of Vermont's new civil union law, the university of Vermont has changed its policies to grant benefits to employees' same-sex partners more consistently with the way those benefits are granted to married employees' spouses. The legislation gives same-sex couples a choice as to whether or not to enter into a legal agreement, which obligates them to the fiscal responsibilities of their life partner as in marriage. Because healthcare falls within this scope, UVM will soon require that employees currently claiming spousal benefits for their same-sex partners show certification that they have entered into a civil union agreement. Vermont Supreme Court Court upholds visitation rights for ex-partner. A woman involved in a high-profile custody dispute welcomed a Vermont Supreme Court ruling Friday upholding her visitation rights to a child her former lesbian partner had when they were together. After hearing an appeal from Lisa Miller-Jenkins on Thursday, a three-judge panel ruled Friday that it had no reason to re-examine the case. Lisa Miller-Jenkins, of Winchester, Va., has been fighting to bar custody to her former partner since the two split up in 2003, three years after they obtained a civil union in Vermont. In April 2002, Lisa Miller-Jenkins gave birth to the girl, who was conceived through artificial insemination, and the three moved to Vermont. About a year later, Lisa Miller-Jenkins renounced her homosexuality, returned to Virginia and denied Janet Miller-Jenkins' access to Isabella, now 5. Click here to read more.
