Remembering The Hot Dog Lady
-
Lois has earned the title of "Hot Dog Lady", because she and her hot dog cart have been fixtures on the marketplace every summer for the last 25 years. She started the vending business, after a block fire in Burlington destroyed her beauty salon. Her husband wasn't so keen on the hotdog idea. In fact, Lois says "He said you've done some pretty nutty things in your life -- but this is the nuttiest I've ever heard. Ha, ha."
25 years later, steamed hotdog lovers are still coming back. People admire her stamina. With other carts, you don't know how long they'll be around, or if they'll be here next year. Lois has been a long-time here."
And she'll continue to serve the wieners, regardless of the weather.
In the warmer weather, most area restaurants and food cart owners will cater to those who
would rather eat outside. Food cart owners will serve to those
who wish to be served quickly and take their food with them.
